Have a Budding Performer in your Family?
The Lost Colony is excited to educate and support our next generation of excellence in theater by offering children’s summer camps, the Theatre Arts Camp for ages 6-12 and the Theatre Arts Academy for ages 13-17.
Exciting Program Announcements for Summer 2019!
We are looking forward to celebrating the 11th summer of our Theatre Arts Camp and the 5th summer of our Theatre Arts Academy. This summer, we have several new ways that students can participate in these programs.
Session I and II are designed for rising first graders through 9 years of age. These sessions are capped at 20 students for each session. During the 5-day session students play theatre games, learn the process of mounting a play, and rehearse for a performance at the end of the week. If your student loves performing, register them for both sessions!
We are excited to announce that we are expanding the opportunities for our 10 to 12-year-old students. Session III is a 5-day session in which they will audition and rehearse a musical performance to be shared with friends and family at the end of the week. This summer Session III students now have the option of enrolling for an additional week to learn how to audition and other skills that will prepare them Session III. Plus, it will give them more time with their friends!
Our Theatre Arts Academy will remain a two-week experience, however the performance will be the first week followed by a week of scene work, technology, and monologues. There will be an opportunity to share what they have been working on at the end of the second week.
Registration opens in December 2018. We hope that you will make plans to join us this summer. Save $10.00 if you register before March 1, 2019!
The Theatre Arts Camp for children 6-12 is a five-day camp that provides children the opportunity to work with members of The Lost Colony cast and crew to explore their imagination, learn team work, and create a performance for family and friends at the end of the week.
A 2-week intensive theater arts program for students 13 to 17 years of age, The Lost Colony Theatre Arts Academy offers teenagers a more complete theater arts experience than our 5-day camps. This new experience is designed to give teenagers a more complete experience than our 5 day camps can offer. The program will cover performance, stagecraft, and auditioning, as well as opportunities in stage managing, props, scenery, and costumes. At the end of the second week, our Academy students will join the Session III Campers to present a performance for friends and family.
The Lost Colony was awarded a Staffing Development Matching Grant from the Southeastern Theatre Conference. The grant helps fund a Theatre Arts Camp/Education Outreach Program Coordinator, a new staffing position for The Lost Colony production. This position will work with Lance Culpepper, Associate Producer, to enhance our summer Theatre Arts Camps for Youth and to launch a new outreach program, Mystery of the Lost Colony.
