Roanoke Island Historical Association Board of Directors

The Roanoke Island Historical Association (RIHA) is the producing organization of The Lost Colony. Founded on January 8, 1932 its mission statement is: “The mission of the Roanoke Island Historical Association (RIHA) is to commemorate the history of the first English colonies in North America on Roanoke Island, North Carolina. This mission is primarily accomplished by the annual production of the symphonic outdoor drama The Lost Colony, and through educationally engaging events and programs.”

Board Member Volunteer Opportunities

May 25 – August 22 | Mondays – Saturdays The Lost Colony We are always happy to see Board members greeting guests at the theatre on Opening Night and any performance nights. Janelle, our Box Office Manager, has your name tag in the box office. Pick it up on your way in and return it on your way out.

Also, we extend the invitation to become a house usher on all performance nights!

 Friday, June 1  Annual School Matinee   Help with escorting school groups down to the theatre and into their seats. Meet at the Box Office around 8:30AM; Lance Culpepper is our “Master of the Matinee”
 Fridays – June 1; June 8 ; June 15  Dare Days  Hand out free tickets for the show to patrons with proof of Dare County residency. Board members make excellent greeters on these three nights! Ticket handouts begin at 6PM.
 Wednesdays & Thursdays | June 20 – August 16 | 2PM  Children’s Show Looking for ushers for Wednesday and Thursday afternoons beginning at 2PM in the air-conditioned Sound Stage Theatre. (Total of 18 performances) This year’s show is The Hunting of the Snark.
 Saturday, August 18  Virginia Dare Day Virginia Dare Birthday Celebration, Live Baby Night, Company Awards Night and Virginia Dare Faire in the afternoon.
