The Roanoke Island Historical Association (RIHA) is proud to announce the second annual Shellabration and BBQ event will take place November 1, 2026, from 1pm-4pm at the Safe Harbor Marina and Tiki Bar. This event is sponsored, in part, by a grant from the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau.
Building on the momentum of last years inaugural event success, this year’s event will feature an expanded lineup of North Carolina oyster farmers and additional local barbecue vendors, while keeping the ticket price unchanged at $95.
Guests will have the opportunity to sample oysters from North Carolina growers and enjoy a variety of regional food specialties. Shucked and roasted oysters will be served alongside barbecue, chowders, biscuits, desserts, and entertainment will include live music by local band, Partly Crowdy.
The $95 ticket includes all food, two drink tickets and live entertainment. Ample parking will be available. The event is open to guests ages 21 and older.

The Shellabration & BBQ takes place at Safe Harbor Tiki Bar at the Wanchese Marina. The event itself will be outdoors, under a large tent.
Oysters
Oysters will be provided by farmers from across the North Carolina coast. Get ready to experience your oysters fried, raw, steamed, baked, and more. We’ll be featuring 4 different oyster stations representing different North Carolina oyster farms. Cousins’ Oysters will be on site serving fresh oysters all day long.
BBQ
Several local Outer Banks barbecue restaurants serving traditional Eastern Carolina BBQ and sides.
Chowder
If it’s cool day in November, you can always count on Outer Banks locals to serve up amazing chowder, which we’ll be serving all day.
Baked Goods
We’re proud to be partnering with Bethany Methodist Church in Wanchese, who will provide cakes, brownies, and bars that will be available for purchase.
