(Manteo, N.C., June 10, 2008) – Guests to The Lost Colony’s Waterside Theatre can “rest their weary bones,” as Old Tom says, thanks to Boy Scout Troop 116 and the Manteo Lions Club.  According to Troop Master George Bowman, “We are trying to set an example for our boys to follow.” Manteo Lions Club supplied the materials for the four benches placed along the path to the theatre.

The Lost Colony is partnering with CapSan Media, the parent company of 99.1 The Sound, “Your Country” 97.1, and EPSN Radio 92.3. The drive will benefit food pantries associated with Mount Olivet United Methodist Church of Manteo, Cape Hatteras United Methodist Men and Beach Food Pantry in Kill Devil Hills.
In addition to a food donation, residents are required to show proof of Dare County residency, such as a driver’s license, voter registration card or utility bill. Admission is limited to two adults per family and unlimited children. Reservations are not required; residents may arrive at the Box Office beginning at 6:30 p.m. on the evening of their chosen performance.

--The Lost Colony Costume Shop Open House a Celebration of Triumphs--

(Manteo, N.C., April 22, 2008) – On Wednesday, April 30th, The Lost Colony celebrates a triumphant step forward when they unveil the rebuilt Irene Smart Rains Costume Shop.  The day marks the 233rd day after a September fire consumed their former costume shop, two outlying buildings and their contents. The drama is on track, steadily rebuilding and replacing with sights towards a May 30 opening. The public is invited to take a sneak peek at the new building and costumes at the open house from 5-7 in the evening. The costume shop is located adjacent to Waterside Theatre, within Fort Raleigh National Historic Site on the Roanoke Sound. Parking will be available at The Lost Colony parking lot.

(Manteo, N.C., April 8, 2008) –There were no overcast clouds to hide the fun had at the Land of Beginnings 2008 Children’s Faire on Friday, April 4. Tiny tots, toddlers and elementary children alike found something of interest at the event—from face painting, to spell bounding illusions, dazzling dancers, and costumed characters.

During the event, the Living Legend Award will be presented to this year’s recipient who brings his own sparkle – Eddie Greene of Manteo.

Find a Treasure
(Manteo, N.C., March 28, 2008) – You might be able to find hidden treasures in The Lost Colony’s yard sale on Saturday, April 19 from 7 am-1pm. Crystal Simpson, Maintenance Supervisor, is busy gathering items for the event.  “We have computer equipment, appliances, upholstery fabrics, clothes, kitchenware, furniture, and more,” remarks Simpson.  Many items for the sale have been donated by the community.  Dancers take notice: tap and other modern-period dance shoes, unable to be used in The Lost Colony will be for sale.  Proceeds from the yard sale will go towards the costume shop replacement fund.
