Special Events

Throughout the year, the Roanoke Island Historical Association hosts a series of special events designed both to bring The Lost Colony community together and to help raise funds in support of our mission.

The Roanoke Island Historical Association Annual Dinner
Saturday, November 15, 2008

Each year the members of The Lost Colony gather together to receive the annual report from the current Board of Directors and to vote on who will sit on the board next. Also a time to celebrate the year’s successes and consider the challenges that lie ahead, this intimate event for members and non-members alike is a great opportunity to get to know The Lost Colony from the inside!

The Lost Colony Valentine’s Day Dance
Saturday, February 14, 2009

February is longest month on the Outer Banks, but one of the bright spots that get us through to spring is the Roanoke Island Historical Association’s annual Valentine’s Day Dance. This year’s dance will be held at 108 Budleigh, a magical function hall in the picturesque town of Manteo.

Land of Beginnings Living Legend Luncheon
Monday, March 30, 2009

Part of the Land of Beginnings Festival, this is a community luncheon that each year honors an Outer Banks resident who has contributed significantly to the charitable, educational, cultural, and/or economic development of Dare county.

Land of Beginnings Black-Tie Gala
Saturday, April 4, 2009

This spectacular spectacle held each year at the Wright Brothers Memorial Pavilion is the Roanoke Island Historical Association’s premier event and is the culminating night of the Land of Beginnings Festival. Net proceeds from this fun filled evening of fine food, dancing and entertainment go towards funding the next year’s production of The Lost Colony.

You and your company can help keep The Lost Colony tradition alive by joining the Roanoke Island Historical Association, along with special celebrity guest stars, for a day of golf on the world renowned course at the Duck Woods Country Club in Southern Shores, NC.

Event Sponsorship

Sponsoring one or more of the above events is a great way to increase awareness for your business, while at the same time affording members of your company VIP privileges.

There are many levels of sponsorship available – for businesses of all different sizes – ranging anywhere from $150 to $15,000. Possible recognition may include your company’s name and logo on invitations, programs, posters, newspaper ads, and press releases associated with the sponsored event.
